IRISH BLESSING FOR A JOURNEY
O Brigit, bless our road, that calamity may not overtake us as we travel;
O veiled one from the laden Liffey, may we reach home safely by your intercession.

The Emerald Isle has been on our "Places to Go" list for several years. We intended to explore the country independently, following the lead of several friends who have driven on their own around Ireland. But two previous Rick Steves Tour experiences that we thoroughly enjoyed (Turkey and Germany, Austria, and Switzerland) and rave reviews from friends who joined a Rick Steves Ireland tour in 2013 convinced us to book his Best of Ireland in 14 Days tour.
That was a great decision! We fell in love with this enchanting country. Led by an engaging Irish tour guide and his assistant, we saw and learned much more about Ireland than we ever would have traveling on our own. Sharing the journey with a fun group of people was an added bonus.
For us, the best part of traveling abroad is discovering the sights, sounds, people, food and culture of a country, the ordinary life of the citizens, while we are on the journey. So the intent of this scrapbook/website is not to give you a day by day, city by city account of our trip and destinations, or an album showing every single photo we took. Why spoil the fun for you since you will surely want to explore Ireland yourself someday and make your own memories, if you haven't already. Instead, our goal is to convey a sense of the tastes, sights, sounds, scents, and feel of the adventures we experienced during this tour.
The photos on each page can be viewed as a slide show by clicking "play" in the upper left corner of the pictures, or at your own pace using the arrows on the upper right side. The most frequent question we receive about our travels is where we stayed so we've included a "Hotels" page at the end of our scrapbook.
We hope you enjoy this wee glimpse of Ireland.
And now, We Go!
